Your Actions
Your Aims:
Move the casualty to a place of safety without making the injury worse
Your actions:
As always, assess D R A B and respond as needed. If the casualty is gasping for air, begin CPR immediately.
Call for help.
If the casualty is conscious, and has medication for angina, help him or her to take it. Advise him or her to chew one aspirin tablet if there is one available.
Keep a close eye on the casualty’s pulse and breathing. If the casualty is suffering from angina, the pain should get better within a few minutes. If the casualty is suffering from a heart attack, the heart may stop at any time, so be prepared to resuscitate.
If the casualty becomes unconscious place them in the recovery position.
Remember to keep checking the casualty’s vital signs and writing down (or remembering) what you found and what you did, so that you can report this to any health worker who takes over from you.
